Africa is an extremely
diverse continent to explore. It is a place where you can get off the
beaten track in any country you go to and explore the unexplored. In
Africa, there is something for everyone, whether it is splendid
historical relics or fascinating wildlife that you seek. If you are up
for a challenge, many parts of Africa certainly do provide them, but
there are also areas of this huge continent that are relatively safe
and easy to explore, places which have a highly developed tourist
infrastructure. You can easily spend many months exploring Africa, and
you will always have plenty left to see by the end of your trip.
Africa is home to 53 independent countries, which also happens to be
the most of any continent. Africa is also the second largest continent
in the world in terms of area and population. Africa has the
Mediterranean Sea in the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the
Indian ocean to the southeast and the Red Sea in the northeast,
separating Africa from the Middle East. Although many people in the
western world tend to refer to Africa as a whole, the continent is
more diverse than almost any other in the world. Spanning 5000 miles
from south to north and 4800 miles from the east to the west, Africa
is home to a wide variety of different cultures.
Africa is also famous for the River Nile, the longest in the world.
This river runs all the way from Egypt to Burundi. Mount Kilimanjaro
of Tanzania is one of the highest mountains in the world while
Djibouti is home to the second lowest point on the earth. Africa is
also home to some of the hottest places in the world, though its
climate varies enormously. In Africa, you can see the diversity in the
many different climates from the Sahara desert to the tropical forests
to more temperate maritime climates such as can be found in South
Africa. There are a practically unlimited number of possibilities for
adventure in Africa, though the most well known are probably safaris.
Africa simply has something for everyone. For those who love nature, a
safari trip would be a great choice. For those who love more
challenging adventures, climbing the mountains of Tanzania or
exploring the Sahara desert may be worth considering. For people
wanting a romantic break such as a honeymoon, some of the tropical
islands in the Indian Ocean are absolutely idyllic. For those who are
interested in history, a visit to Egypt is an absolute must. Here you
can explore one of the cornerstones of civilization, and there is much
more than just the pyramids. For those cultural visits and those who
have a greater sense of adventure, Libya has started opening up to
tourists as well, boasting splendid sites such as the ancient Roman
city of Leptis Magna.
A trip to Africa will be unforgettable, but go prepared and it will be
a highly rewarding experience. |
